Descriptive statistics summarize what was observed; inferential statistics use sample evidence to reason beyond it.
Theory
Descriptive statistics summarize the data we actually have. Inferential statistics use a sample to make a careful statement about a larger population or process. Both are useful, but they answer different kinds of questions.

Scenario
The synthetic website dataset records visits, bounce rate, signups, and device type. Saying 'the average visits in these 12 rows is about 1,545' is descriptive. Saying 'typical daily visits next month may be around this level if conditions stay similar' is inferential.
The same data can support both kinds of thinking, but the wording must make the difference clear.
